Please read the detail description of each position before you decide which one to apply for (See below) .
Once you have decided, please complete the officer application. 

Please think thoroughly before you submit all inputs.
Once your application is submitted, you will be contacted by the Executive Board for an interview through E-mail or phone call. 

OFFICER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

The following contents are the title of the position follow by the number of opening spots and their descriptions:

General Requirements for all Positions:
    • Minimum of 3 hours of commitment per week
    • Be able to attend at least 80% of general meetings, unless otherwise told.
    • Note: Some positions require attendance at weekly board meetings.

Public Relations (2) 
Description

  • Promoting Club
                        + Flyers, working with graphic designer
                        + Managing club reputation
  • Contacting companies, speakers, and faculty
  • Helping External Vice-President to plan potential events
  • Contacting other clubs for event/mixers
  • Must be able to attend weekly ASBMB board meeting

Historian (1) 
Description

  • Take pictures at events
  • Be comfortable with talking to others and taking pictures of people
  • Be able to make concise summaries
  • Be able to record events

Webmaster (1) 
Description

  • Be able to create a webpage
  • Optional: Know how to use Weebly
  • Be comfortable with using a computer
  • NOTE: we will not be training for this position at the moment
  • This position does NOT require the officer to attend board meeting every week

Graphic Designer (1)
Description

  • NOTE: a portfolio is required
  • Be comfortable with graphic design programs

Social Media Coordinator (1)
Description

  • Helping publicize events on ASBMB’s facebook page
  • Keeping up with any questions or concerns received in FB inbox
  • Organize online sources (add other relevant scholarship/ research opportunities posted to FB page)
  • Know MailChimp (training is available)
  • Make/ manage other social media accounts (IG, twitter, etc.)

Event Coordinators (2)
Description

  • Must be able to attend all ASBMB board meeting
  • Responsible for organizing and coordinating meetings and major events. They will report to the Internal Vice-President. 
  • Of the two Events Coordinators, one will focus primarily on general meeting events by preparing the outline of general meetings and creating Facebook events for every event He/She will also create Facebook events for all other events including fundraisers, banquets, and miscellaneous unless otherwise told so. 
  • The other Events Coordinator will focus primarily on larger scale events such as preparation for the annual San Diego Trip, Monsanto Visit and The Academy of Sciences Visit. 
  • Both will be in charge of emailing our listserv and the MCB listserv regarding upcoming events and meetings. (More information will be given)
  • They will also be responsible for helping the Internal Vice President with assigned tasks, paper works and documents.

Fundraising Chair (2)
Description

  • Work directly with club treasurer to manage club money, both collection and disbursement of funds by group members.
  • Develop ideas for future fundraising events and follow up with seeing the event through.
  • Contact local businesses about donating products for fundraising events.
  • Be capable of communicating with other clubs to set up collaborative events.
 

ASBMB Representative (1)
Description

  • Be comfortable with reading online sources
  • Be comfortable to communicate with email
  • Make deadlines related ASBMB
  • Outline national chapter goals
  • Update the chapter about ASBMB
  • contacting ASBMB faculty members

Outreach Assembly (1)
Description

  • Attending other club meetings, communicating what other clubs are doing 
  • Help foster relationships with other clubs
  • Feel comfortable enough to approach other students and faculty
  • Does not need to attend weekly ASBMB meeting but does need to meet with External Vice-President once a week
